Strong Start For Eskmuthe On Opening Day Of SkiffieWorlds 2025
Eskmuthe Rowing Club made waves on the first day of SkiffieWorlds 2025 (the coastal rowing world championships) with a stunning set of results that saw the club ranked 9th in the world after the opening six racesa remarkable achievement on the global stage.
After the first day of racing was postponed due to dreadful weather, day two (Tuesday) was a packed schedule. It saw Eskmuthe’s crews taking to the water in a variety of categories – and proving that the hard work and training back in Fisherrow has paid off.
The highlight of the day was the Sixth place finish (out of 72 boats) for the 50+ Mixed crew, who delivered a composed and powerful row against strong competition. The thrilling final was contested in light rain and saw the top eight teams separated by less than 10 seconds as they crossed the line.
The 280+ Men (whose combined age has to add up to more than 280 years) took a fantastic 8th place out of 41. The 40+ Women delivered another standout performance, earning Ninth place in a hotly-contested field of 63 boats, showing great determination right through to the line.
Also taking to the water were the 280+ Mixed crew, who brought home an excellent 14th place from 50+ boats and the 40+ Men, finishing 16th our of 53 boats in their category. Both races were hard-fought and showcased the depth of talent across the club – from experienced hands to those racing at a world event for the first time.
