Oar-Some Support For Skiffieworlds Crews
Eskmuthe Rowing Club members are raising a glass to one of Scotland’s leading brewers for their oar-some support.
Stewart Brewing has sponsored the club’s T-shirts for their 40-strong squad (aged from 13 to 75) heading to Skiffieworlds in Stranraer.
This is the 5th Skiffieworlds - and the largest, with 79 clubs from as far afield as Australia, South Africa, the United States and the Netherlands descending on Loch Ryan in south-west Scotland. There will also be a strong contingent from Northern Ireland and England, and from all around Scotland, where coastal rowing began in 2010.
There are 8 age categories - from under-17s to 280+ (the total of 4 rowers' ages) races - for male, female and mixed crews. Eskmuthe is entering 19 of the 24 categories.
Club Captain Gaynor Allen said: "We are delighted to be attending this year's SkiffieWorlds and have been training all year for the big event. It is the biggest regatta in our calendar, and our rowers and coxes have been seen on the water at Fisherrow in all weathers. We will do our best to get into as many finals as possible and perform to the best of our ability. We also intend to enjoy SkiffieWorlds and make new friends and catch up with old ones in Stranraer."
Eskmuthe Rowing Club Chair Simon Francis said: “For the second world championships in a row, we’re delighted that Stewart Brewery, a local business whose head brewer Craig Scotland is a club member, has agreed to back the club.
“Their support helps to ensure that everyone who wants to row at the Worlds can wear the club kit, regardless of personal circumstances.“
“We’re incredibly excited to represent Musselburgh on the world stage and are looking forward to a week of great competition in Stranraer.”
“We're excited to be backing Eskmuthe Rowing Club as they gear up for the Skiffie Worlds 2025. From sailing regattas to rowing races, we love supporting Scottish sport, especially when there's a good excuse to raise a pint or two along the way.”- Stewart Brewing.
Stewart Brewing is an independent craft brewery based in Loanhead, Midlothian, and was established in 2004 by Steve and Jo Stewart.
