Battling Performances On Keep Eskmuthe In The Hunt At SkiffieWorlds 2025
The second day of racing at the St Ayles Skiff World Championships brought another thrilling round of action for Eskmuthe Rowing Club, as our crews delivered gutsy performances across six fiercely competitive events.
With conditions on Loch Ryan improving from earlier in the week, the stage was set for a full programme of heats, time trials and finals. Eskmuthe’s rowers once again rose to the occasion, with the club ending the day at 16th in the world – with three full days of racing still to come.
The standout result of the day came from the 60+ Women, who battled through to a world final and finished a brilliant 14th overall, out of 60 boats. In a nail-biting race, they showed calm under pressure and huge strength over the closing stages, pushing hard against some of the world’s most experienced skiff crews.
Also making their mark were the Under-40 Women, who posted an impressive 11th place in their time trial – a strong result in a highly competitive field.
The Under 40 Mixed and Under 40 Men’s crews both dug deep in their respective races, finishing 18th and 17th overall – solid performances that kept Eskmuthe’s points tally ticking over.
In one of the most tightly-packed races of the day, the 40+ Mixed crew finished 27th out of 59 boats, missing out on a place in the final by just seven seconds. Their race was a true team effort from start to finish.
Rounding out the day’s racing were the 60+ Men, with several relatively new rowers, who faced a tough draw in a large and experienced field, ultimately finishing 31st out of 60.
