Medals Galore In Queensferry Mash-Up
A squad of Eskmuthe rowers came back from the first regatta of 2025 with a haul of medals.
The Queensferry Regatta - held beneath the iconic Forth bridges - saw boats from across the region compete in mixed up crews.
Rowers had to adapt to rowing in unfamiliar boats and with rowers from other clubs.
It was also the first time that many had seen Newhaven’s new boat, Troika, in action. Yasmin from Eskmuthe was in the crew that saw the new boat take a gold medal in the first race of the day. Gordon also secured a bronze in the Ferry Lass boat.
With hospitality provided by the South Queensferry club and the businesses of Port Edgar, rowers were fueled up and kept warm from the cold conditions.
In the 50+ Mix, Pete took gold with a crew in Ferry Maid while Fox & Gail got bronze in Boatie Rows - the first St Ayles Skiff to be built.
Carol took a gold in the decades race, also in Boatie Rows, and in the 20+ race, Eskmuthe rowers landed gold, silver and bronze. Josh in North Berwick’s Blackadder, Sarah C in Troika and Adam W in Ferry Maid all got medals.
In the final race - called a bubble and squeak race - younger and older rowers were mixed up in crews.
Sarah T and Savva took gold in Ferry Lass, Adam and Logan got silver in Ferry Sonnet and Veronica got bronze in Ferry Maid.
