Eskmuthe Swaps Oars For Paddles To Raise Money For St Columba's Hospice Care

Members of Eskmuthe Rowing Club are swapping their traditional St Ayles Skiffs for dragon boats in September as they raise funds for St Columba's Hospice Care.

The "Eskmuthe Dragons" will be taking part in the charity's Dragon Boat Race at Port Edgar Marina in South Queensferry on 5 September 2026, joining crews from across the region in a day of fast-paced racing and fundraising.

The event aims to raise vital funds to support the hospice's work providing specialist palliative care, Hospice at Home services, family support and bereavement care across Edinburgh and the Lothians.

While rowing a dragon boat is a little different from racing a St Ayles Skiff, teamwork, rhythm and plenty of determination are just as important. The crew has already begun preparing for the challenge and is looking forward to representing the club while supporting a cause that touches many families in our local community.

The team hopes to raise as much as possible for St Columba's Hospice Care, helping ensure people living with life-limiting illnesses and their families continue to receive expert care and support when they need it most.
