When we feel very anxious and uncertain, it can be difficult to act effectively.
Here is a little sequence which might encourage you... but do also look at the Choice Point video below. |
The choice point tool can help us when we are struggling to act effectively:
On a very practical level, the best thing is often to set goals for a very short time ahead. What do you need to do in the next hour?
Make your goals very specific. Don't say "Sort out my desk" - too vague. Instead you could focus on getting all the A4 paper sorted into categories. Or you could say you'll respond to three emails.
Then you'll know when you've done it, and that is the time you give yourself a pat on the back.
If you're struggling to decide what to tackle first try the thing that you think will make the most difference that you can actually see. We do well when we get some visual feedback!
